Lake Mead is a vacation destination for just about any type of traveler. Those who like to relax on the shores and enjoy waterfront views will be amazed at the juxtaposition of the red rock cliffs against the crystal blue waters. Those who like to combine adventure with luck will enjoy the convenient proximity to Las Vegas. And those who yearn for time in the great outdoors will find that the hiking is superb in this region.

At Callville Bay Resort and Marina, we believe these are the top three Lake Mead hiking trails.

  1. River Mountains Loop Trail

This is an easy trail, yet it is a large one that spans more than 16 miles. Many people who take a hike along this trail simply do a portion of it, and they enjoy the magnificent sights along the lakeshore. It is a paved trail that is 12 feet wide, making it a great choice for large travel parties or those with strollers or wheelchairs.

  1. Liberty Bell Arch Trail

Spanning 6 miles round trip, this easy trail takes about 6 hours to complete in its entirety. It’s a popular option for families with children. The trail leads to the beautiful natural Liberty Bell Arch which was formed over thousands of years, and it boasts an overlook of the Colorado River that can’t be beat.

  1. Redstone Trail

In the Northshore Area, the Redstone Trail is a one-mile trail that is perfect for those who are short on time but don’t want to miss out on a hike. This trail features plenty of up-close looks at the redstone rocks that define the Lake Mead Recreational Area. You can access the trailhead at the Redstone Picnic Area.

All of these trails are easy trails, and we recommend them because they are suitable for any type of traveler. Young families with children who are new to hiking will be able to easily explore them, while experienced hikers will still appreciate the terrain and the views. Of course, there are many other trails available for people of all ages and skill levels.
